Kurt Elling eleito cantor do Ano pela Jazz Journalists Association

Kurt Elling, que actua no Estoril Jazz já no próximo dia 14 de Julho, foi considerado pela Jazz Journalists Association, pela quarta vez..., a melhor voz masculina do Jazz no ano de 2006.

Os músicos em destaque na edição deste ano foram Ornette Coleman (que arrecadou quatro prémios: Músico do Ano, Jazz Album do Ano - Sound Grammar - Small Ensemble do Ano - Ornette Coleman Quartet - e Saxofonista Alto do Ano) e Andrew Hill (Prémio de Carreira, Compositor do Ano e Pianista do Ano).
